Thoughts on Chapters 1-3

After reading through chapters 1-3, my view on the direction of this class is a little more clear. I can tell that a lot of what we do will be structured through this book. It will also serve as a great resource for other classes and assignments. The tips on reading critically and journaling seem like they will be very helpful. I also really enjoyed the invention strategies, particularly the freewriting and questioning. It's in my nature to plan things out before I do them, so these will definitely be useful when I am planning papers.

Another thing I liked in Part One of the textbook is how it broke our writing down into the 4 main areas of our lives. It's so easy to forget how writing is a part of our life outside of academics but it really is. I look forward to growing in my abilities to write professionally and also as a citizen. I don't know if I will ever have the desire to write to a senator or to the president but I think it will be useful to know the proper way to approach that.
